Little Alice and Bryan Thompson of Graffiti Photographic spent a sunny afternoon playing photoshoot in the Wisconsin studio owned by COM crew member Che Correa. One of the sets that were captured is featured in Absent Ventriloquist, a commentary on mental illness and awareness.
The photos were taken while different music played. Little Alice was feeling inspired and Bryan brought the haunting scenes to life with his photography. These were later combined with poems and short stories written by Little Alice; including a short non-fiction narrative from her personal life. These passages are meant to remind us of the horrors of the asylums, and the ineptitude of Deinstitutionalization.
Delve into the darkness of a troubled mind and learn for yourself how compassion and understanding can set you free.
