Ramblings of a Glass Mind – Freja’s Baby Origins

Nothing puts the brakes on senior year of high school like a pregnancy and a major death in the family.  Alex and Freja must face becoming young parents while still dealing with all the drama and obligations that typical high school life brings.  This tender romance has a lot of backstory, so buckle up!
“Freja’s Baby” was originally written in Winter 2012 when I discovered the online Hey Arnold fandom.  It was written after my first fanfiction, and now published romance novel “Tearing Down the Wall”.  This story was written as a fanfiction during a turbulent time in my life.  I have always struggled with writing about my life and personal experiences.  Writing through the lens of fanfiction felt “safer” than writing nonfiction.  I also found a strong sense of community and made friends with artists that I’m still friends with today.  All this “safety” and encouragement allowed me to create this story.
This time period was turbulent for me because my marriage was beginning to fall apart and I was planning my retirement from modeling due to the downturn in the economy and my age in the field.  It was a very uncertain time as I was exploring new jobs while trying to pretend everything at home was fine.
I had not worked on my writing or my art after graduating college in May 2011 as I was pursuing my modeling career full time.  Diving back into my writing gave me an escape from the chaos and a voice for my struggles.
Prior to writing “Freja’s Baby” I never had an interest in writing the typical high school Young Adult novel.  However, something spoke to me, and this story was created.  Using fanfiction, I was able to “safely” explore this subject matter that I was otherwise very uncomfortable writing.  Now, this incredibly vulnerable story is a completed romance novel and soon to be available on Amazon!
